Hallmarking
In the UK, Hallmarking is a legal requirement to sell precious metals over specific weights (Gold: 1 gram, Silver: 7.78 grams, Palladium: 1 gram, Platinum: 0.5 grams).
All my pieces are hallmarked as standard, regardless of weight.
I am registered with the London Assay Office and my Maker’s Mark has my initials inside a shape that has been described as both a plectrum and a Viking helmet.
Why do I hallmark all my work? My customers tell me they appreciate this as a mark of quality, particularity as I work exclusively with recycled precious metals. I also appreciate the personal connection this creates to my work, with each piece that I make being laser engraved with my very own Maker’s Mark.
